British Tamils Forum has joined hands with many of other cultural and
community organisations in the United Kingdom for ‘Pongu Thamil’ – a
celebration of Tamil culture and arts. The focus of this year’s event is
to show solidarity and support to the political aspirations of their
compatriots back home and around the world. An estimated 25,000 British
Tamils are expected to gather for this important annual gathering.
As you are probably aware, this year the ‘Pongu Thamil’ – “The Tamil
Uprising or Surging” has been celebrated around the world in Europe
(France, Germany, Norway, Switzerland and Netherlands etc.), South
Africa, Canada (over 75,000 Tamils gathered), Australia and various
other countries.
In the UK it is expected some distinguished speakers from the community,
British Parliamentarians and Councillors (from all main political
parties) and dignitaries from overseas will take to the stage in support
of the Tamil Cause. Cultural events will include songs, dances and
musicals which will all from part of the event.
As media plays a key role, we will be delighted to have you there and
for you to see for yourself the strength of the British Tamils, their
resolve and determination in supporting the political aspirations of
their brethren back in Sri Lanka.
Please let me know whether my organisation and/or my self can be of any
assistance for you to participate in the event and report for your wider
readers/viewers/listeners. Please contact me at any time on my mobile
