Isle
host to royal wedding!
A
TINY Scots island was gripped by Royal Wedding fever yesterday when it
played host to a Sri Lankan prince and his bride. Secrecy surrounded the
visit of the royal couple to the remote Orkney island of Shapinsay, which
has just 300 residents. In a cloak-and-dagger operation, the Raja Prince
Jerry Remigius Kanagarajah and his wife, Aishwary Rajnandhini Lusijah Rajaratnam,
arrived for a romantic blessing at 19th Century Balfour Castle, the most
northerly castle in the world. The couple, who have a home in Holland,
touched down at Kirkwall airport on Friday and were met by local minister
the Reverend Alison Finch. Everyone involved in the ceremony at the luxurious
pounds 100-a-night castle had been told to keep quiet. But a source said:
"You can try and keep these kinds of things quiet, but in a place the size
of Orkney it is impossible."
