Cricket
is the only sport, which binds South Asians together. ProclaimedCanada's
national sport in 1867, Cricket is fast becoming a popular sport inCanada
following the World Cup tournament last year in South Africa and theparticipation
of Canada's national team at the games.In recognition of May as South Asian
Heritage Month, the South AsianHeritage Foundation, in association with
the Mississauga Ramblers CricketClub are proud to announce the first ever
South Asian Open Crickettournament. The event will take place on the 29th
of May at Mississauga Ramblers Crickeground at the corner of Averbury and
Britannia in Mississauga. This will bea fun filled day for the whole family
to enjoy.
The event is open to anyone
and is free of charge.
Everyone is invited to
stop by with your friends, family, your picnic basket
or barbeque and your lawn
chair to enjoy an afternoon of Canada's National
Sport, Cricket, awesome
South Asian Entertainment and family fun at the
first South Asian Open
Cricket Tournament.
Three twenty over games
will be played. The schedule is as follows:
9:00am – 11:30am ? U15
20 over game (Teams TBA)
11:30am – 2:30pm ? U19
20 over game
2:30pm – 5:30pm ? Mississauga
Ramblers vs. Canadian U23 team. 30 over
game.
Entertainment will be coordinated
by Magic Feet Canada and will include a
wonderful area of performers
and talented musicians.
South Asian Heritage Foundation
is a non-profit group that is involved in
promoting May as South
Asian Heritage Month under the theme: Acknowledge.
