[September 9, 2004] Toronto. Ont. The National Ethnic Press and Media Council of Canada announced today the recipients of the Community awards for 2004. Twenty-four individuals from ten different communities and twelve publishers or Editors of ethnic newspapers are recognized this year for services rendered to their respective communities and to the publishing industry.The ceremony for the presentation of the awards will be presided by His Honour the Lieutenant Governor of Ontario, at Queen’s Park.

The ceremony is scheduled for 6:00 pm on Friday September 10th, 2004. Following the ceremony his Honour will give a reception in honour of the award recipients and the members of the National Ethnic Press. Members of the media are invited to cover the event.

The National Ethnic Press and Media Council of Canada is a not-for-profit media organization representing publications and electronic media of the multilingual communities of Canada.
